Chocolates & Roses Candy Arrangement DIY

What's the perfect gift for Valentine's Day?? Chocolate and Roses!!! This beautiful craft combines both in an edible arrangement! This arrangement is great for gift giving, and the Hershey's Kisses Rosebuds are great for Weddings and/or Shower Arrangements!! Use my easy to follow directions and photos to create this unique arrangement for your Valentine!

Materials for flower pot:
  • 4.25" clay flower pot
  • Floral Foam block
  • Decorative Shredded Paper
  • craft paint
  • makeup sponges
  • cardboard roll
  • paint brush (optional)
  • plastic knife
  • 1-1/2 yards 5/8" sheer ribbon
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks

Directions for flower pot:

Use a plastic knife to cut the foam block to fit into the flower pot. Save the extra pieces for "filler". Remove the foam block and set aside.

Use a makeup sponge to paint the flower pot. Let dry and apply a second coat.

When completely dry, you will paint the hearts. To paint hearts with the cardboard roll, first bend the roll to a "V" at the bottom. Bend the top in and curve to form a heart. I painted 2 sets of white and 2 sets of red hearts.

Cardboard roll paints perfect hearts!
White "double" hearts

Hot-glue the floral foam into the pot. You may glue the scraps of foam around the edges to make the foam more stable.

Cut a piece of sheer ribbon 22" long. Wrap the ribbon around the top of the flower pot and tie a square knot. Add a drop of hot glue to secure the ribbon to the pot.

Fold a 32" length of sheer ribbon in half. Tie into a bow. Pull the loops apart and trim the ends on a diagonal. Use hot glue and tacky glue to adhere the bow securely to the flower pot.

Tip: Hot glue glues fast, and tacky glue glues long!

Secure bow!
Add  enough shredded paper to cover the foam. Set aside.

Materials for 3 Roses and 3 Hershey's Kisses Rosebuds
  • 9 Hershey's Kisses (3 pairs of matching colors for rosebuds and 3 additional for roses)
  • 6 silk leaves (I cut 2 from each of the silk roses - see below)
  • 3 Adhesive dots or squares
  • 20" green floral tape (3 pieces)
  • 5" square cellophane (3 pieces)
  • wire cut from coat hangers 7-9" (3 pieces)
  • 3 silk roses
  • 1/8" or 1/4" satin ribbon (1-2 yards)

Directions for Hershey's Kisses Rosebuds

Use wire cutters to cut lengths 7 - 9" from wire coat hangers.

Thanks to my husband for cutting the wire for me!

This tool makes cutting
a "snap"!

Cut 2 silk leaves from each of the 3 silk roses. Trim the ends to a wide point to make it easier to apply to the rosebud stem.

Cut the paper strips from 2 "matching" Hershey's Kisses. Apply double-sided adhesive or glue dots to the bottom of one kiss and stick the 2 bottoms together.

Place the tip of the Hershey's Kisses in the center of a 5" piece of cellophane. Gather the cellophane around the joined kisses.

Open the cellophane to glue one end of the wire to the wrapper at the bottom tip of the kiss. Add a drop of hot glue and twist the cellophane securely around the wire. Test to make sure the wire is secure. If not, add more glue and twist again.

Securely twisted!

Add a drop of hot glue to the twisted cellophane at the base of the rosebud. Immediately start wrapping the cellophane tightly with a 20" length of green floral tape. Wrap around 3-4 times around, stretching the paper slightly as you wrap.

Continue stretching and wrapping as you begin to pull the floral tape down, wrapping at an angle. Add a drop of hot glue and one leaf and wrap a couple of times around.

Add another drop of hot glue and the other leaf; wrap securely.

Continue to wrap the floral tape until you are at the end of the wire. Trim the floral tape and glue the end of the tape to the wire.

Tip: The wire will insert easier into the foam if the bottom of the wire is not wrapped. You may stop wrapping 1/2" from the bottom of the wire if the rosebud will be placed in an arrangement where the bottom will not be seen.

Make 2 more rosebuds in the same way.

Roses

Hot-glue a Hershey's Kiss to the center of each of the 3 silk roses

Arrange the 3 roses and rosebuds in the flower pot.

Remaining Materials
  • 5 - 12" skewers
  • tissue paper
  • wrapped candy - I used 2 Sweethearts individual packs, 4 Mini Musketeers, 2  Hershey Nuggets, 1 Reese's Heart, and 1 Reese's Mini Peanut Butter Cup

Directions

Cut the 12" skewers into 2 equal pieces using wire cutters or old scissors.

Hot-glue skewers to the backs of the wrapped candies.

Twist a 10" square of tissue paper in the center. Wrap the center of the tissue around the skewer of 3 of the candies and glue (2 Hershey Nuggets and 1 Reese's Mini Peanut Butter Cup). Cut ribbon in 12" lengths; tie in a bow around the tissue. Trim the ends of the tissue to resemble a rose.

See photo below to arrange remaining candies in the flower pot.

I taught this Chocolates & Roses Valentine's Day craft at a recent Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority meeting, and the ladies did a fantastic job! One said she did not think it was possible for her to create something this beautiful! Below are some of their spectacular arrangements:
