I love to decorate, especially at Christmas! Each time that we have moved, it has been to a bigger home, so of course we needed more decorations. I was ready for the challenge! Many decorations are handmade, some are heirlooms, and all are special! Enjoy the self-guided tour of our Log Home in the Big Woods - all "Decked Out" for Christmas!
THE FRONT PORCH
Welcome to out Log Home in the Big Woods!
*Links to additional posts with directions are highlighted in red in some of the descriptions and in captions under some of the pictures.
This heavy wood rocker was hand-crafted by a special friend in West Virginia. The ladder complete with paint stains was bought at my very first Flea Market for $3.00! I use it year round and change the decorations for various seasons and holidays.

THE FOYER
The 4 ft. tree in the foyer is left up year round. Decorations are changed with the holidays and/or seasons. For Christmas, the tree is decorated with White House and Mount Vernon ornaments along with patriotic stars, beads, and assorted Americana ornaments. The wooden sign which hangs above was a gift from my sister Karen.

Most of the ornaments on our Family Tree are homemade. There have been a variety of ornaments created over the years by my children, grandchildren, and myself using many different craft techniques.

The flannel sheet on top of the comforter gives the room a cozy look. The Fence Headboard was made by Charlie and me.
The stable was a new decoration this year, made by my husband Charlie for my Willow Tree Nativity. It was displayed on my mirrored dresser with additional angels on the mini shelves.

After Christmas, I remove the Christmas ornaments from my Lodge Tree. It is then left up year-round with various special lodge ornaments on it. I first saw a similar tree at the Snowshoe Ski Resort in West Virginia. In the background is a handmade Rudolph, a gift from a friend. The quilted bear tree skirt was handmade by me several years ago when my children were kids.
