Candy Cane Reindeer

Candy Canes and Reindeer - what a great Christmas combination! Use my easy-to-follow directions and photos to make the perfect last minute Christmas ornament: fast, easy, cute, and edible! Candy Cane Reindeer are great for gifting and hanging on the tree. Merry Christmas!

Materials:

Candy Canes
Brown chenille stems (12 inch)
Small red pompoms (about 1/2 inch)
Wiggly eyes (.275 inch - 7mm)
Metallic thread (used for jewelry)
Tacky glue
Wire cutters

Directions:

Cut the chenille stems in half using wire cutters.

Center the cut chenille stem (6 inch) under the curve of the candy cane. Tightly twist the chenille stem 2 times. See photo below to twist each side into "antlers". Add a drop of Tacky Glue to the back of chenille stem where it meets the candy cane.

Use Tacky Glue to attach 2 wiggly eyes and a pompom nose.

Tip: Handing the candy canes over a container or box makes it easy to make these ornaments in an "assembly line".

Cut a 13" length of metallic thread. Fold and tie the thread in a double knot around the candy cane and chenille stem. Tie an overhand knot in the end, and trim the ends.

Tip: A tiny drop of white glue keeps the ends from fraying.

Optional:  You can eliminate the metallic thread and simply hang the Candy Cane Reindeer on the tree.

Merry Christmas!
